Welcome to the Archaeological Practice Ltd, Newcastle upon Tyne!
The Archaeological Practice undertakes and reports on archaeological fieldwork and historical research for private, corporate and public clients in the north-east of England and beyond.
With over 20 years’ experience working in the cultural heritage sector, we draw upon a wide range of expertise – everything from planning advice, commercial excavation, building recording, surveying and illustration, to academic research and community projects.
Additionally, we specialise in producing Historic Village Atlases, working closely with local history & archaeology groups to write bids for and working on multi-disciplinary projects. This work with village communities has resulted in a total of 46 Historic Village Atlases produced since 2003.
The two directors, Richard Carlton and Alan Rushworth, also have links with the School of History, Classics and Archaeology at Newcastle University, as visiting fellows.
The company is based in central Newcastle and has the following credentials:
- BAJR verified contractor
- Managed by a MCIfA postholder
- SMAS accredited contractor (SSIP health & safety)
- Constructionline Gold certified (health & safety)
- All staff are academically qualified to degree level or higher, are SSSTS certified and have CSCS cards
