Alan Rushworth (Director)

Alan Rushworth is the lead Researcher in Roman and Medieval Archaeology working within the Archaeological Practice.  He is currently preparing for publication the results of Newcastle University's training excavation at Housesteads Roman Fort carried out between 1974 and 1981 and undertaking post-excavation analysis on the substantial programme carried out at Wallsend fort between 1975-84.  He has directed excavation of Roman sites along Hadrian's Wall and has produced numerous development-led desk-top assessments, post-excavation assessments and research agendas (many for English Heritage) relating to a variety of monuments and landscapes, and including documentary surveys of Thirlwall Castle, Harbottle Castle, High Rochester Fort and Low Cleughs Bastle for Northumberland National Park Authority.
